What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient form of energy healing devised by a gentleman called Mikao Usui, essentially, Reiki balances the seven main chakras of the body – leaving a person in a more balanced and relaxed state.
The easiest way to think about Reiki is that it’s a type of universal electrical energy. Our bodies use little electrical pulses to transmit messages throughout our bodies, occasionally those messages get out of Sync – Reiki
helps to restore the balance of those messages.
The universal energy is passed through me to you
via hovering hands or a light touch of the hand – it is completely painless. Your body is in control of how much
Reiki it needs and will take the energy it needs to rebalance
– it may take several sessions until the correct balance
is reached. It doesn’t matter whether or not you believe
it will help – your body will take what It needs.
Some clients need only one session,
but some may need a series of sessions
– I will only suggest more sessions if
I feel you will benefit from it.
Does it Hurt ?
Definitely not – in fact, Reiki will leave you feeling rested and very relaxed.
Will I feel anything?
Clients have reported a feeling of warmth in the area of the body being treated, have seen ‘waves’ of colour, have gone into a dream state whilst receiving treatment, some have reported feeling an immense heat from my hands and occasionally you may experience a much-needed release of pent up feelings – in Reiki nothing in unexpected and everything is natural – in all cases, everyone has reported feeling incredibly relaxed and calm following Reiki.
How do I receive the treatment ?
Normally you would be treated face to face either by lying on a couch or sitting on a chair. However, Reiki can also be offered and received over a long distance – this can also be very effective.
What happens after my treatment ?
I always recommend that you drink plenty of water and if possible, have a lie down/relax for half an hour on returning home. Reiki continues to work for a short while after treatment which is why I always recommend a further period of relaxation.
